Bad Jews set for West End run

Award-winning play ‘Bad Jews’ is set to make its West End debut, it was announced today.

The play, which centres on an American Jewish family fighting over an heirloom left by their late grandfather, a Holocaust survivor, will transfer after sell-out runs at the St James Theatre in London and Ustinov Studio in Bath.

Journalist wins prestigious Chaim Bermant prize for articles on French antisemitism

A journalist who wrote a five-part series on the rise of antisemitism in France has won the prestigious Chaim Bermant Prize for journalism at a Jewish Book Week session.

Marc Weitzmann, the former editor-in-chief of French cultural magazine Les Inrockuptibles, received the prize on Sunday for his work, ‘France’s Toxic Hate’.

Channel 4 asks if abusive Paris kippah walk was ‘provocative’

Channel 4 News has been criticised over an interview with an Israeli journalist who was filmed being abused as he walked around Paris wearing a kippah.

Journalist Zvika Klein, whose video went viral this week, told C4 that he felt “scared and frightened” after he faced verbal attacks in predominately Muslim neigbourhoods.

Call for inquiry amid claims Guinness Four were scapegoats

The family of one of the Guinness Four has backed a call for a public inquiry into the affair that saw four Jewish businessmen jailed in 1990.

Ernest Saunders, Anthony Parnes, Jack Lyons and Gerald Ronson were found guilty of criminal offences in relation to inflating the value of Guinness shares during a takeover bid for rival company, Distillers.

Charity hands out £20 million

A prominent Jewish charitable foundation has marked its 50th anniversary by handing out £20 million to organisations in the UK and Israel.

The Wohl Legacy said it was splitting £6.5 million between welfare groups Jewish Care and Nightingale Hammerson, and TrainE-TraidE, a Jewish employment charity.
