Myths, folklore and unusual beliefs are the source of intense interest for many, so much so that they choose to study them academically. We take a walk on the wild side in this edition of Learning World, presented by Maha Barada, exploring three schools with very unique curricula.
Our first stop is Japan where we meet young people learning the ancient ways of the Ninja. These illusive figures play an important part in Japanese mythology and hold a fascination for many within the country and beyond. In a school in Yokahama students learn their skills and philosophy as a fun-way of improving themselves.
We had way out West in our second story, to the Arizona desert. Why? Because the truth is out there, or so believe students of a UFO investigators’ school run by experienced ‘alien detectives’. In this report we find out what it takes to become a budding Mulder and Scully.
Our final story is from Iceland where what started out as a joke has become a very serious business. The Elves school teaches all you need to know about these curious little inhabitants of the island’s rocky landscapes. People come from all over the world to find out why this legend is so special to Icelanders. Find out more, watch the video.
