By Alison M. Brown
A controlled fire burned nearby while I was walking along the beach below the Gibson Steps in Victoria, Australia. This photograph features one of the Twelve Apostles, which are limestone rock stacks along the Great Ocean Road that have been formed due to erosion and harsh weather conditions. As I was taking in the stunning scenery, I turned around and noticed that my footprints had left quite a pronounced trail behind me. Luckily there weren’t many people around, so I was able to capture this photograph while the smoke from the fire illuminated coastline with a vibrant golden glow.
