The tv series is a lot better than the books. The character Elena is completely different from the book and the tv show. But the books have its own uniqueness. Its own little story to get caught up in. The story isnt so bad but I don't like how it doesnt involve more of her family like it does in the tv series. I probably made a mistake by watching the tv series first. If I had read the books first I might have liked them better.

I love the idea of a human/vampire/vampire love triangle because drama is where the heart is. I love that this book series was turned into a TV series because it gives a better chance to understand the characters a bit better. I would have to say that the author did not give much detail on the characters and their emotions, but the positive outweighs the negative. I literally finished this book in two hours.
