Strategic Equality Plan

Carmarthenshire County Council has published its Strategic Equality Plan which outlines how the Council will meet its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Specific Duties for Wales in its role as an employer, a provider of services and as a community leader.

Public bodies are required to have due regard to the need to:

  1. Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Act
  2. Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not
  3. Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

Alongside the Plan, the Council has published an evidence report which supports the development our Equality Objectives and Engagement reports, following development work with local communities and staff.

The Action Plan notes the steps to be taken during the next four years, in order to achieve the Council’s Equality Objectives.
