Košice Children‘s Historic Railway is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Following years of decline, more than 30,000 Košice locals and visitors started to see the miniature railway not only as an industrial - historic site but also as a new cultural area of the city. Tens of events, mainly aimed at families with children, form a unique symbiosis of art, nature, history and adventure. Rides on a miniature train like one from a fairytale have therefore changed into a trip to the world of theatre, cinema, musical meetings, creative workshops and enthusiasm from volunteers for saving and restoring this unique technical site. |

The Convergences international festival of chamber music in Košice, established in 2000, has noticed a significant increase in the programme as well as the interest of the public and audiences in recent years. In its fifth year, the festival again wants to focus upon cooperation between top Slovak interpreters (many who are Košice born or graduates of the Košice Conservatoire) and, of course, it will bring extremely interesting guests from abroad especially for 2013. |

„The way we were“ is a long term photographic project focusing upon the collection, archiving and other use of lay photographic, film and video creations of the second half of the 20th Century in Košice and the whole Eastern Slovakia region. This project is not afraid of overlapping with neighbouring countries, taking into account ethnic and national plurality and the suburban post-socialist past. Artistic and documentary use of the theme will be reflected in the scope of the special catalogue, multi-media exhibition and an internet site. ‚The way we were‘ is a symbiosis of the specialist view of historic amateur and professional creations of a nonartistic nature, with an amateur relationship to the past and family photographs. |

For five years, the Street Art Communication festival (SAC) has systematically created a gallery of contemporary street art in the public areas of Košice. The festival has developed over the years and currently ranks amongst the top European street art events. The genesis of the SAC (from school areas to large facades of residential houses, from local artists to renowned foreign muralists) is clear (cooperation with parts of the city, the SPOTs project, media interest, street vernissage…). |

The new, original Slovak opera - the documentary „66 seasons“ - is based on the film of the same name directed by Peter Kerekes (2003) which was awarded several international prizes. The opera loosely follows the stylised film documentary which illustrated the history of the city using the environment of the Košice old indoor pool. In ten portrayals, the „66 seasons“ opera captures the historical events of more than six decades, from 1936 to 2002, and uses them as a backdrop to bring the personal stories of people from Košice. |
