Jobs, Careers and Volunteering
Where can I find out about jobs/volunteer/internship opportunities at CI?
For information about career opportunities at Conservation International, please see our
Careers page. Job and internship opportunities are updated regularly. If you are seeking a position that is not listed on the page above, or if the deadline is passed, then the position is no longer available. CI does not offer volunteer opportunities in the field; any volunteer positions available at CI headquarters will be listed on the jobs page. Online application is available through the
Employment page.
Where can I get information about the required education and experience for a career in conservation?
You can view the experience and education requirements for jobs currently available at CI on our
Employment page. You can also find ideas about conservation careers on our

I applied for a job through the CI website. How can I follow up on my application?
Our hiring manager will contact applicants as appropriate. If you feel there has been a technical error with your online submission you can
contact our office to verify that your application has been received.
Funding/partnerships
What are your funding programs and how do I apply for funding?
CI is a field-based organization that believes strongly in building alliances with partner institutions, but we are not a grant maker in the manner of a foundation or other traditional funding source. Instead, CI manages several specific innovative
funding mechanisms. We encourage you to learn more about them to determine your eligibility:
- The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a catalyst creating strategic working alliances among diverse groups, combining unique capacities and eliminating duplication of efforts for a comprehensive, coordinated approach to conservation challenges. The CEPF website provides application guidelines for on-the-ground, community, and grassroots groups working where biodiversity is at greatest risk.
- Global Conservation Fund (GCF) is a unique funding mechanism that serves as a well-capitalized pool of financial resources to create and endow the management of new protected areas in the world's most biologically important regions. The Fund aims to leverage additional investments by working with partners, including existing conservation trust funds and land trusts, and by securing additional financial resources from public and private donors.
- Verde Ventures does not provide grants; it makes debt and equity investments of $25,000-$250,000 in small and medium-sized enterprises ($5 million or less in assets) that are strategically important to conservation.
Do you offer student funding or individual grants?
Conservation International does not fund individual grants, including assistance for continuing education, thesis research, travel, or private business ventures.

How do I contact a department or person within your organization?
For privacy and security reasons, CI does not publish staff addresses. We do not have forwarding information for former CI employees, CI partners or spokespeople, or for members of our Board of Directors or Chairman's Council. To contact a current CI employee by mail, please use the main office address:

To report your change of address, please write to
membership@conservation.org. Be sure to include your name, your current address, and your former address.
There is an environmental problem in my neighborhood/region. What can CI do to help?
We focus our conservation efforts in areas known as biodiversity hotspots, wilderness areas, and key marine regions – places with the highest levels of species and threats, and places where we know our conservation dollars can save the most species. Learn more about these
unique places.
Can CI buy the land that I have available for sale?
CI supports governments and communities in their efforts to manage important conservation lands for biodiversity, but we do not directly purchase land. Unfortunately, CI cannot contact or recommend any potential buyers for your land.
I would like to interview someone from CI or have a speaker come to my event or school.
If you are interested in a specific project, topic, region, or department, we will gladly forward your speaking request to the appropriate CI expert. It is the individual decision of our staff members to accept your request. We do not have the resources to arrange for general speakers from our offices.
