The National Low Emissions Coal (NLEC) Council was established by the Australian Government under the National Low Emissions Coal Initiative in July 2008, to develop the National Low Emissions Coal Strategy.
The NLEC Council delivered the National Low Emissions Coal Strategy to the Minister for Resources and Energy in September 2009. An update paper has also been developed reflective of recent climate change and carbon capture and storage (CCS) activities.
