Those hanging out to dabble with the dark side of the shwartz, err, force, will be delighted with the latest add-on for LucasArt’s RTS flagship, Star Wars: Empire at War.

Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption now allows players to harness the forces of evil as an aspiring underworld crime figure, Tyber Zann, facing off against the weak and ineffective Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire.

Become the most notorious criminal leader since Jabba the Hutt? Bring it on! (So long as I have one of those gladiatorial death pits in my palace...)

Keeping close to the original Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi plots, Forces of Corruption throws you into a universe in which the Death Star has been destroyed and the galaxy is ripe for exploitation.

Accordingly, the add-on features new game play elements which focus on manipulation and subterfuge. Players now gain the ability to influence other factions, steal their funds, slow their production and spy.

Gamespot Review 8.1/10

Many true Star Wars fans had been waiting years for the strategy game Star Wars: Empire at War. Forgetting all about Jar Jar Binks and the prequel trilogy, Empire at War plunged you into the heart of the Galactic Civil War seen in the original trilogy, with its Imperial Star Destroyers, Rebel scum, and popular characters, such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Thanks to epic land and space battles, as well as an intriguing strategic campaign, Empire at War is one of the best strategy games of this year. So it was perhaps inevitable that we come to Forces of Corruption, an expansion pack that plunges you deeper into that galaxy far, far away with a distinct new faction and new content that allow for whole new strategies.

IGN Review - 8.5/10

Last year's Star Wars: Empire at War seemed like a surefire hit. The gang at Petroglyph managed to translate the popular Star Wars franchise into a real-time strategy format, recapturing the magic and appeal of all those backyard action figure wars we fought as kids. Though we loved the overall presentation of the game -- specifically the fact that it really felt like Star Wars -- we were less than enthused by the predictability of the combats, both in terms of the limited unit rosters and the tiny, straightforward maps.

Today the team has released a brand new expansion pack, Forces of Corruption, that not only builds on their previous successes but also remedies many of the problems we had with the original game. While it's no surprise that the game's fans are hungry for more content, the expansion pack is good enough to attract gamers who passed on the original based on our earlier criticism.
