PlayStation.Blog Recap

Countries: , , , ,

Hey everyone, welcome to the weekend!

It’s been another busy week here on the PlayStation Blog. We’ve had a chat with Andy Murray, got the scoop on some sweet Bioshock costumes for LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and found out what’s going to be lurking inside the Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 6. And, back by popular demand, our Weekend Debate asks whether you’ve ever had to justify your love of gaming in exchange for the chance to win one of 15 PlayStation Network voucher codes for Lego Batman 2 for PS Vita.

That, and everything else from the last seven days are in this week’s PlayStation Blog recap. Enjoy!

Weekend Debate: Excuses to Game

Countries:

I Love Gaming

I love playing role-play games and sometimes it’s hard for non-gamers to fully grasp my passion. So as the nights grow lighter and warmer, I’m going to need some good reasons (excuses) to fit in some more gaming.

So here’s one of my scenarios…

Comment from friend: You’ll wreck your health with too much gaming, why don’t you skip it tonight and come to my mate’s gig?

Suppressed thought: How about you come over and enjoy some gaming with me and we get a takeout instead?

My response: Life is short – gaming makes it longer.

This week’s debate is…

Have you ever felt the need to explain your love for gaming?

If so, what are your most witty and funny responses to such comments?

We have 15 PlayStation Network voucher codes for PS Vita LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes to give away to the best responses.

Access TV: Episode 39

Countries:

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PlayStation Vita heads up Access TV Episode 39, available today on YouTube. Bundling together Metal Gear Solids 2 and 3 into one neat package, the collection allows you to play through Snake’s finest in the palm of your hands. For old-school enthusiasts, the bundle also includes the old MSX titles Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, so you can check out the saga’s 25-year old roots.

Access All Areas this week takes us to LA for a Virtua Fighter tournament starring gaming legends Chibita and Fuudo. Not only do they brawl each other, but Access TV cameraman Dan Read gets in on the action, and promptly gets battered.

There’s also the small matter of a Hollywood A-lister gracing the Access TV Bonus Level in the shape of one Nicolas Cage – who’s here to talk games and Ghost Rider 2.

Elsewhere there’s a rundown of the latest PS3 news (including footage from a game about a murderous rabbit) and a roundup of the week’s best content from the PlayStation Store.

Access TV is available every Friday on YouTube – head to youtube.com/playstationaccess to subscribe and never miss an episode.

Countries: , , , ,

This year’s exciting summer of sport is well underway and has this week arrived in London for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships!

To celebrate this, some of our friends at SEGA met up with World Number 4, Andy Murray to see if he was ready by getting hands on with Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition on PlayStation Vita, but how did he fare?

Andy also talks to us about Virtua Tennis, PlayStation Vita and his gaming exploits on tour. To catch the full interview with Andy, go to the Virtua Tennis Facebook page here.

In a further celebration of summer Tennis excitement we are pleased to offer you the chance to win a signed Andy Murray training shirt and copy of Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition on PlayStation Vita, plus three runners up prizes of a signed copy of the game.

To enter the competition all you have to do is pop over to the Virtua Tennis Facebook page and answer one simple question.

Best of luck!

VidZone World Exclusive – Drumsound & Bassline Smith “Through The Night”

Countries: , , , ,

VidZonions! This is Candice here; Digital Manager to the stars. Well, I like to think so anyway. In Ben Creasey’s absence I thought I’d be the one to give you the inside scoop on all new things VidZone related. Firstly you’ll be pleased to hear that Château VidZone is up and running! Which, for anyone who might have missed our last informative blog post, is our brand spanking new office. We’re still ironing out a few crease(ys!) and so thanks for being patient in the meantime. Sorry for the terrible joke.

DRUMSOUND

In our brief absence, we’ve only gone and managed to get you a VidZone WORLD EXCLUSIVE! It’s ok, you can thank me later. The video in question is for ‘Through The Night’ by British drum and bass trio Drumsound & Bassline Smith. It has already been hailed as a (caution!) hot tune for the summer and features the talent of up and coming vocalist, Tom Cane, as well as their signature ‘wide screen’ production style. The single is taken from their highly-anticipated new album, Wall Of Sound, which will be released later in the year.

Moving on from all things wub wub wub…Our Artist Of The Week is the world-domineering pop-rock sensations, Maroon 5, who told the world earlier in the year that they’ve got the moves like Jagger. Well now they’re imitating ET and trying to call home on ‘Payphone’; their new single which features the rapping skills of Wiz Khalifa no less. The video itself (directed by the man who brought us ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’!) is an action packed mini-movie with singer Adam Levine getting caught up in a bank robbery. Fans can watch this awesome video along with previous hits including ‘Makes Me Wonder’ and ‘Sunday Morning’.

Latest Videos

Jay-Z & Kanye West continue their reign as the undisputed Hip-Hop Kings with their latest video for the powerful ‘No Church In The Wild’.

JAYZKANYE

Plus Kanye West (not being satisfied with conquering the world one video at a time) has also found the time to team up with Grammy Award winning folk star, Bon Iver on ‘Lost In The World’ and fellow US rappers, Big Sean, 2 Chainz and Pusha T on ‘Mercy’. That’s a whole lotta Hip-Hop for one week!

  • Drumsound & Bassline Smith – Through The Night (Maximum Bass)
  • Jay-Z & Kanye West – No Church In The Wild (Explicit) (Hip-Hop)
  • Avicii – Silhouettes (Dance)
  • Florence + The Machine – Spectrum (Alternative)
  • Jay Sean Ft. Pitbull – I’m All Yours (RnB)
  • Will.i.am – This Is Love (Pop)

Plus anyone who likes their music LIVE and LOUD should stay tuned for something extra special in the coming weeks…

As always, please keep in touch with the following fun ways to communicate. We read everything and love your comments so don’t be shy!
