Latest Twitter Workshop in Newbury reveals best practice tips

Another brood of fledgling Twitter folk graduated from our latest Twitter Workshop in Newbury, West Berkshire, armed with the vision and the skills to leverage this micro-blogging tool for their businesses.

The Twitter Workshop was presented at Deanwood Park Golf and Conference Centre just outside Newbury and saw Morgan PR director Nigel Morgan and our associate Mary Thomas, from Concise Training once again team up to deliver the powerful Twitter training.

As ever we had a delightful mix of businesses in the room, including delegates fromBayer UK, local professionals, the Federation of Small Businesses and East Berkshire College. The diverse nature of attendees on our public Twitter Workshops adds to the fun with different questions being asked.

We began by explaining how Twitter can be used for promoting your business and how important that social media and social networking is becoming for businesses, before moving on to the nuts and bolts of tools like Tweetdeck, which is the most popular desktop interface for managing your Twitter accounts.

We also looked at scheduling and monitoring tools like SocialOomph, FutureTweets and how best to shorten web addresses with tools like Bit.ly – after all with only 140 characters, and less if you want your tweets to be Re-tweeted!

The Twitter Workshop included an interactive element where language specific to the service were suggested by the delegates and added and explained on the presentation – live! While exercises encouraged everyone to follow one another and to test that they were learning how best to use Twitter and other Twitter tools.

Morgan PR recently announced thedates for our public Twitter Workshops in Newbury West Berkshire for January, February and March 2010 and we are also able to offer bespoke Twitter Workshops for businesses and organisations. These can incorporate other social media tools like LinkedIn and Facebook too.
