Eight-year-old speaker proves social media truly is childs play

Those that have heard me talk about social media will have heard me say it is 'child's play'. Well at Keeping Business Local in Newbury last week I was able to prove it thanks to my eight-year-old daughter, who helped present a Social Media Workshop to an audience of 60 people.

Certainly I was the proud Dad as she narrated two slides defining Twitter and LinkedIn and won spontaneous applause from the business people in the audience! (I had to work much harder for mine!). It illustrated the point nicely.

Many will have heard me talk about 'Mini Morgan' on Facebook and Twitter and she is certainly keen to get started on social media, but even I was impressed to discover just how much she grasps.

It also turned into quite the public relations coup with both Newbury Business Today and Newbury Sound covering the story and the subsequent chatter on Twitter and Facebook raised her, mine and Morgan PR's profile nicely! In fact it perfectly illustrated the point I made that PR simply reflects what you do!

It was a really interesting workshop. Very nice touch for Mini Morgan to get involved - proving that if an 8 year old can understand and articulate how it all works, there really is no excuse for any professional not to understand it.
