Feeling peckish? The Hungerford Food Festival is coming...

The Hungerford Food & Drink Festival is a 10 day celebration of the abundance of good local food and drink to be found in and around Hungerford and aims to give everyone, young and old a chance to get involved with food, drink and cooking on many levels. The Festival takes place throughout the town from Friday 24th September through to Sunday 3rd October 2010.

The festival kicks off on Friday 24th September with the screening of a foodie film, followed by a beer festival on Saturday and Fiesta Italiana on the Sunday. Many pubs, restaurants and hotels are joining in with themed food evenings, demonstrations and wine tastings throughout the week. On Wednesday and Thursday there is a great opportunity for younger budding chefs and parents to try their hand at pizza making which will be judged at the Food Fayre.

The main Festival weekend (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October at the John O’Gaunt School) begins with a full day of cookery demonstrations featuring TV celebrity Daniel Galmiche, Michelin starred chef from The Vineyard, along with a number of local chefs and a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ competition. At either end of the day will be the finals of Hungerchef (Hungerford’s very own masterchef competition).

Sunday is the day of the Food Fayre with over 40 exhibitors showcasing local vegetables, fish, meat and game, cheeses, cakes, jams, beer, wine and lager and local crafts along with cookery demonstrations and stalls selling a variety of food such as curry, barbeque, noodles, hog roast and cakes. Last year saw over 1000 people attend the Food Fayre and the venue proved ideal and safe for both adults and children to have fun, eat and become merry!
