10 Reasons Why Facebook Means Business

The 10 Reasons Why Facebook Means Business were revealed by Morgan PR at this morning's meeting of the Newbury Business Group.

There was a lively atmosphere at the penultimate meeting of West Berkshire's foremost independent networking organisation - the group breaks for the month of August - and they were ready to discover our take on the social networking phenomenon that is... Facebook.

There was plenty of interest in Facebook, and the reaction from the group reminded me of when we first talked about Twitter - there were members who you knew would be logging on to Facebook later today, and others who remain to be convinced.

It was great that Lisa Chaffey, the virtual assistant from In A Pickle, had chosen today to talk about how her initial doubts about Twitter had been replaced by real conviction after her consistent foray onto Twitter had resulted in new business - from another Twitter user.

Social networking and business are not obvious bedfellows for many professionals and it can take time to realise the potential; but as I explained, waiting too long may mean you miss out.

It is good to have had questions from members about our social media strategies, a service that explores what the true potential of social media is to help businesses achieve their objectives - and explains precisely how.

No doubt someone will be revealing how Facebook brought them business in a few short months!

A PDF of the 10 Reasons Why Facebook Means Business can be downloaded for free here and was first promoted through our newsletter, Creating reputations, and you can subscribe at the top of this page. Creating Reputations is also the URL of Nigel Morgan's Twitter Page.

Fantastic presentation on Friday Nigel about the Facebook / Business potential.

I remember you first talking about Twitter at NBG and I myself was a tad bemused – but now, I really am a strong believer that social media is a fantastic (and free) way to be out there and getting noticed. It takes a bit of dedication and persistence, but I am now a keen twitter’er and am looking into the Facebook side of things too.

I understand that using social media may not suit every business, but I urge you all to give it a try and see what you think – because waiting too long may mean you really are missing out – whilst your competitors are steaming ahead!

As always, a first class delivery from our chairman and resident Social Media expert.

Interesting to see the changes in Social Media with Facebook crossing over to the business market. All adding to Nigel's theory on Organic PR.
