Demotix welcomes reporters from European Youth Press

Thanks to some hard work and a trip to Brussels by our intrepid News Editor, Wais Bashir, Demotix is pleased to announce a new partnership with the European Youth Press (EYP), a network of over 50,000 journalists under the age of 30 from 24 separate Youth Press organisations across Europe.

From this week, reporters associated with the EYP will be able to use a specific keyword, DemotixEYP, to tag their stories for inclusion in an exclusive EYP news hub on the Demotix website. Their submissions will also be included in the Demotix feeds and other distribution channels into the mainstream media.

All of us at Demotix are excited to see our coverage from mainland Europe expand, with reporters from Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia (FYROM), Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania and Serbia. We're keen to help introduce these young reporters to the world of street journalism and online distribution.

The EYP regularly organises events for young journalists to meet and exchange ideas, as well as promoting youth media and freedom of the press in Europe. Their website says that the aim of the association is:

to inspire young people to become involved in the media and take an active part in civil society by fostering objective and independent journalism.

That's something that everyone at Demotix can stand behind. We look forward to seeing the stories and photos that EYP members come up with.
