Shooting suspect arrested for attempted murder

PALATKA, Fla. -- The Palatka Police Department says a suspect was arrested Wednesday for a shooting that happened on Oct. 6 during a robbery.

Police say 20-year-old Robert Lee Williams, of Pomona Park, was was arrested around 12:30 p.m.

Investigators say Williams was named as a person of interest in the robbery and attempted murder of Louis Howell III, who as an acquaintance of Williams.

Police say Williams turned himself in with Howell's vehicle on Oct. 8.  He was arrested for grand theft auto around noon that day.

Wednesday police say he was arrested for attempted murder, armed robbery and tampering with evidence. 

Williams is being held in the Putnam County Jail with no bond.
