Showers & Parties

Arranging the rehearsal dinner
After the wedding rehearsal, it's customary to treat the wedding party to dinner. This event is traditionally hosted by the groom's parents, who also pick up the tab.
Creative shower planning
Adding to the fun of a shower can be accomplished through creative planning. Depending on the bride's taste and your budget, creativity can be used in any or all facets of the event including the location, dress, presents, and invitations.
Planning bachelor and bachelorette parties
Traditionally, the bachelor party is organized by the best man, and the bachelorette event by the maid or matron of honor. But these days, the party can take many forms.
Shower themes and games
It is often customary for a wedding shower to have a theme which will let your guests know what type of gifts they are expected to bring. Common themes include lingerie and kitchen showers.
The engagement party
Sometime after the engagement is formally announced, it's customary for the bride's parents to host a party. Usually, it's held just before your announcement appears in the paper, or soon after.
Who hosts a shower?
Traditionally, showers are given by the wedding attendants, but friends and relatives often host these events. The purpose of a bridal shower is to have an opportunity for friends and family to gather and give gifts to the prospective bride and groom.
