A stunning look at the Andromeda GalaxyFrom Earth, on a clear, dark night, the Andromeda Galaxy is only faintly visible, appearing as a misty patch to the naked eye some 2.5 million light-years away. John Boehner cries, again, leading some in the media to chide him (sort of)John Boehner did it again. While delivering a public address, he got... well, a bit misty eyed. The latest occasion was last night, as the congressman's fellow Republicans were swept back into majority power in the House of Representatives following mid-term elections across America. Boehner, who is widely expected to replace Democrat Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House, got choked up somewhere between talk of cutting government spending and an aside about his personal experience of the "American dream." Boehner has before shed tears -- during a victory speech and again on the House floor -- leading some media pundits to roll their eyes. Why some say Favre may finally be doneIt has really been a banner year for Brett Favre. Between this summer's annual will-he-or-won't-he play drama to the private jet sent to Hattiesburg, Miss. to his sexting scandal, Favre's year couldn't have going any worse. Favre's alleged indiscretions even provoked a skit on Saturday Night Live, the ultimate of American flatteries intertwined with mockery. Then came the actual business of playing football, an incredibly demanding exercise for even the most well-conditioned athletes in the world, not to mention a 40-year-old man with shaky ankles. The city's board of supervisors voted 8-3 in favor of an ordinance to require all stores that give toys away with a food purchase to meet higher nutritional health guidelines.
