Varanasi blast: Three suspects arrested by terror squad

December 8th, 2010

Varanasi: Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested three people in connection with Tuesday's terror blast, CNN IBN has reported.

Anti-terror squad picked up Shahnawaz and Assadullah as part of the probe into the explosion, which killed a two-year-old child and injured over 30 others. The other is yet to be named.

Varanasi IG Rajiv Pratap Singh has, however, refused to comment on the arrests saying, "We are moving on right track of investigation. We didn't have any specific intelligence input with us. It is premature to comment on it. The situation in Varanasi is normal. The schools and shops are open."

Meanwhile, security agencies were today examining CCTV footage at the site of the blast at a Ganga ghat here which left a child dead and 37 injured even as a forensic team from Agra collected samples from the spot.

A module of the Indian Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier in the day, a father-son duo were picked up for questioning in Mumbai in connection with the e-mail sent by banned terror group.

I am surprised as to how come you haven't titled this article as "Green Terror" or "Islamic Terror" strikes again. You have some pretty valid reasons for not doing so. Now, I want you to remember those reasons and desist from calling Saffron terror or Hindu terror next time around. Else, it is not journalism but a front for pseudo secular ideology. I have not given up hope on our paper as I have with many others. Redeem and reform yourself from that mistakes of the past.
