December 6th, 2010

Hyderabad, Dec. 5: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has sent out a strong message that he will not compromise on law and order. He gave a free hand to the state police to clamp down on the ongoing agitations in different parts of the state over the weekend.

In Hyderabad, the police booked two cases against the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti leader, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, and his followers in the Saifabad and Abids police stations. At Saifabad, the MRPS leader was booked for rioting with weapons and for unlawful assembly, and at Abids he was booked for promoting enmity between groups and disobeying orders of public servants.

The police also came down heavily on MRPS activists who attempted to lay siege to Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy’s house on Saturday night.

At Tandur in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, several activists of the TRS and Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi (TRSV) were arrested when they tried to obstruct the Chief Minister’s convoy and also disrupt the public meeting on Sunday. The activists were detained till the meeting concluded.
