CM to move into Camp home

December 7th, 2010

Hyderabad, Dec. 6: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has decided to shift from his Jubilee Hills MLAs’ Colony residence to the CM’s Camp Office residence at Begumpet within a week.

The CM’s Camp Office and official residence was constructed during the late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime and was occupied by him for over five years till his death.

However, when Mr Rosaiah came to power, he decided to use only the Camp Office and the internal gate leading to the residence portion was closed. He also made some changes to suit his vaastu requirements by extending the front portico and also constructed a lift besides other changes at a cost of `50 lakh. He, however, did not use the lift even once, and was not a frequent user of the Camp Office.

The present Chief Minister has decided to move into the residence portion of the Camp Office. The connecting door between the residence and camp office, which was closed, will be opened now.

On Monday, the CM’s wife, Ms Radhika Reddy, an interior designer, visited both the Camp Office and the residence portion along with some professionals. She instructed officials to make some changes — like paint and furniture — to suit their tastes. A few days back, the CM’s brother, Mr Kishore Kumar Reddy, had taken some vaastu experts along and they also had suggested some minor modifications to suit the CM. Officials of the roads and building department have already started sprucing up the home.
