Who is VisitEngland?

VisitEngland is the strategic leadership body representing the public and private sector stakeholders of English Tourism.  It works in partnership with VisitBritain, the Regional Development Agencies and local authorities, and the private sector, creating a national tourism strategy, optimising marketing investment, and developing the visitor experience across England.

Our purpose

VisitEngland’s role is to be the custodian of the England tourism strategy and the authority for tourism in England.

Our goal

Our overall goal is to support England’s tourism industry in increasing propensity for domestic and international visitors to take breaks, holidays and day trips in England, resulting in increased consumer spending.

We will do that by

• Improving the perception of England as a good value destination for short breaks, holidays and day-trips
• Communicating the wide range of experiences and activities available in England
• Driving traffic to the enjoyengland.com website to encourage take-up of the offers available there 
• Promoting the key brand characteristics of real, fun and indulgent
• Working with tourism businesses to drive excellence in the quality of England’s tourism experience

Our history

Before April 2009, VisitEngland existed as an advisory board to the England marketing division within VisitBritain. Following consultation with the tourism industry via the British Tourism Framework Review, the need for a separate and distinct body for tourism within England was identified.  VisitEngland was launched in April 2009.

Enjoy England

Enjoy England is VisitEngland’s consumer-facing brand used in domestic market campaigns throughout the UK. In international markets, the VisitEngland brand will be used.

Research and insights

The work of the Insight team at VisitEngland ranges from major national continuous surveys, tracking developments in domestic overnight tourism, occupancy and visits to visitor attractions, through to more strategic ad hoc studies. In the coming months, the work of the Insights team will play a vital role in supporting VisitEngland’s strategy development and implementation by delivering and communicating timely, insightful, actionable information to key stakeholders about our customers and our industry. Driving excellence in Quality

VisitEngland works with tourism businesses to enhance and drive excellence in the quality of the visitor experience. At the heart of this is VisitEngland's portfolio of Quality Assessed Schemes which currently asses more than 24,000 accommodation businesses and more than 800 visitor attractions across nine schemes. Marketing England

The VisitEngland marketing team continues to implement exciting, innovative and high impact marketing campaigns across the full spectrum of media – all supported by consumer and corporate public relations activity. This activity helps to grow the value of English tourism, improve the visitor experience and adds value at national level which cannot be achieved solely at a regional level. MeetEngland - Business Visits and Events

MeetEngland is the official body responsible for promoting England's outstanding Business Visits and Events product. It is the business events arm of VisitEngland, the official tourism body for England.  MeetEngland targets both domestic UK and international event and incentive organisers through a series of on-territory "England" events, online and offline marketing initiatives, familiarisation trips and trade shows.
