The Globe Arena

Stockholm is well-known for its jogging tracks, waterside walks and proximity to nature. We have a strong and proud tradition of organised sports, with a large turnout for competitions both from participants and spectators.

This gives us a solid base for the development of full-size sports halls, new artificial playing surfaces, swimming pools, ice-rinks, sports grounds, halls for football, indoor sports, riding and improvement of facilities for the disabled.

A city with something for everyone

Stockholm is promoting a thriving variety of sports for everyone and is constantly striving to find suitable places for spontaneous exercise. Regardless of where you are in Stockholm, there should be somewhere close at hand for games.

The City of Stockholm operates approximately 450 sports facilities and is also responsible for outdoor activities, fishing and moorings. Children, young people and people with functional disabilities are prioritized. During school holidays the City of Stockholm organises a whole range of activities for children and young people and there are always opportunities to try new forms of exercise or new sports.

The City allocates funding to a total of 550 sports clubs and associations.

The Sports Administration is responsible for the sports facilities in Stockholm. Below you find contact information to the Sports Administration.
