This Virtual Taxonomic Laboratory is a direct outcome of a scientific collaboration MOU between CSIRO and the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed in November 2008, based on the spirit of mutual benefit and under the principle of equality and reciprocity.

We will use the VTL to promote:

  -   Collaborative research

  -   Real-time remote diagnostics to support biosecurity and sustainable agriculture

  -   Teaching and training

  -   Virtual curation

  -   The creation of a global network of taxonomic institutes working together to accelerate the taxonomic process
