MPAA RATING: R for strong violence, disturbing images, language and brief nudity

Starring Kiefer Sutherland, Paula Patton, Cameron Boyce, Erica Gluck, Amy Smart, Mary Beth Peil, John Shrapnel, and Jason Flemyng

Ex-cop Ben Carson takes a job as a night watchman at the burned-out ruins of the Mayflower department store. As he patrols the eerie, charred remains of the store, he begins to notice something sinister about the ornate mirrors that adorn the Mayflower walls. Reflected in the gigantic shimmering glass are horrific images that stun Carson. He soon discovers that a deadly threat looms, trapped within the mirrors and reflective surfaces that pervade his everyday life. And if he has any hope of saving his wife and children from a horrifying death, Carson must somehow uncover the truth behind the mirrors - and battle the greatest evil he has ever faced. Actually a marked improvement over the plodding and confusing original.

The movie could have been a lot scarier.

An occasionally inventive but ultimately plodding horror film.

A minor chiller and major downer from the talented Alexandre Aja.

Chicago Reader Andrea Gronvall
Director Alexandre Aja (Haute Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) keeps the suspense tight for most of the movie, only to fritter it away in an overblown ending.

An empty enterprise that provides a few moments of goofy fun, Mirrors reflects back nothing.

The Hollywood Reporter Frank Scheck
This remake of a South Korean movie ultimately provides fewer scares than the average aging baby boomer feels every time they look into a reflective surface.

The film looks to do for reflective surfaces what "Amityville 4" did for killer lamps.

Variety Rob Nelson
Softcore horror at best, failed allegory at worst, Mirrors reflects little beyond Splat Pack auteur Alexandre Aja's desire to push his genre into less punishing and more profitable territory.

LA Weekly Jim Ridley
It's a mystery why Sutherland attached himself to this dour, muddled thriller.

The gore is so badly done that it's borderline comical and poor lighting passes for "atmosphere."

Boston Globe Ty Burr
At nearly two hours, Mirrors is overlong for a summer horror toss-off, and the movie's three or four false endings make it seem even more of a haul.

Austin Chronicle Marjorie Baumgarten
An effective sound design enhances several of the film's sudden frights, and Sutherland, who appears in almost every scene, is a predictably solid presence.

Paul C. gave it a9:
Outstanding and gripping supernatural thriller. Solid performances for Kiefer Sutherland and Paula Patton complimented the roller-coaster ride of exhilarating special effects from Director Aja. The fascinating back story ties the present to the past nicely and one is kept on the edge of their seat while searching for an explanation. Absolute goosebump material and definitely one of the more memorable movies of the genre in recent years.

Jordan gave it a2:
This movie was uttely pointless and a waste of an attractive cast's talents. The script is garbage and the acting could be a lot better.

Amy C. gave it a2:
The plot was so unclear & confusing.... there was (I think) a ghost (burning woman in dept store), then there were some demons which possessed 'Ana'... all muddled up & seemingly appeared for different reasons. Sutherland's acting was not bad though. I must thank the guy next to me who kept jumping off from the occasional boo! scenes. It was him who kept me awake during the whole movie.

Arjan D. gave it a1:
Horrible B-horror movie that has to compensate the lack of atmosphere and a decent story with huge amounts of blood and gore...

Claudia M. gave it a10:
I totally loved this movie, it was so freaky.. especially the little girl Anna when she was possessed and then when she was old.. I dont know why ppl always give it a low rating.. im sure they'd never even be able to plot a good movie.

Edwin R. gave it a10:
Really good movie.

Patrick D. gave it a2:
I'm so close to giving this a 1. It was a really bad movie with plot holes and other things I cant even begin to describe.
