In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a runner called faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Flow is what keeps you running, what keeps you alive. Mirror's Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain: in this city you will learn how to run. [Electronic Arts]

Mirror's Edge is a videogame that definitely deserves a try, also on Pc. Its short length is the only complain we can mention about the campaign, because it's an incredible innovative title with a very powerful graphical side and an addictive gameplay proposal. A nice launching for this new saga that replaces the word 'brief' with the word 'intensity'.

There's depth here that you'll only discover hours into time trialling a single stage, and as we said, no other game in recent memory comes close to being as cool. We can't wait to see what Faith gets up to next.

Console ports are usually a waste of time, but that's certainly not the case with Mirror's Edge. In fact, the PC version of the game offers even more than its console counterparts. Are you looking for something original and innovative to play on your PC and you aren't afraid of heights? Just try Mirror's Edge.

After two months of waiting, Mirror's Edge has come to the PC. This version is identical to the consoles, but with a few changes to make it more astonishing. The use of the NVIDIA PhysX engine makes the game more realistic and the graphics are smoother thanks to the use of AA filter. One of the most innovative game of 2008 is now even better in 2009.

Mirror's Edge shines on the PC due to superior controls. At times it can be very harsh towards amateurs but rewards proper practice and skill to a great degree. Audiovisual masterpiece and a polished experience, yet doesn't quite match all the expectations and offers little content for the price.

The concept, the presentation and the execution of Mirror’s Edge makes it worth the money on paper, but it all feels like a slice of delicious cake, layered cream on top and the obligatory cherry, which leaves you hanging when you realize there is no more cake beyond that.

Either way, this is a fine port from console to PC, one that brings everything from the original experience and fits it nicely into a PC gamer's hands. The actual game might be frustrating and tedious at times, but it's worth it if you've got the cash to pick it up.

While its elegant controls, visuals and audio weave a dreamlike tapestry that its animated cut-scenes do their best to eat away at, the whole is an experience you'd be remiss to let fly by if you missed it on consoles.

A thrillingly kinetic scramble through gaming's prettiest Orwellian dystopia. It has the feeblest fight sequences, yet its greatness shines through. [Feb 2009, p.94]

Again, the PC version itself is entertaining. Still, it would've been even better if the developers put in additional content - a bonus chapter, anything really.

The beautiful visuals look even better on the PC and the controls are smart and responsive. There are some flaws, though, in particular the short play time, some stiff level design and the overall potential for frustration. But if you manage to go with the flow, you will find Mirror's Edge to be a thrilling and unique gaming experience.

Mastering the game's in-body platforming is an urgent thrill, beaten down less violently here under the auspices of our old friends keyboard and mouse, and stands out from the homogenised interfaces of modern first-person and platform games.

Sure, there are a few quirks, but Mirror's Edge is a well designed and well presented elaborate game. And it's fun, too. It's plays a bit like Tomb Raider, just faster and without ruins. Not a perfect game, but perfectly designed and it stands out from the mass of uniform games like a white skyscraper.

If anything, the only problem with Mirror's Edge is its relatively short story, which is only increased by the lack of a multiplayer component that does its gameplay justice. Nevertheless, Mirror's Edge is a solid and innovative title that takes the FPS genre and reminds it that things don't always need to stay the same.

It’s fast, original, and beautiful – everything you should expect from a holiday blockbuster. If you’re easily frustrated by difficult games it might be wise to rent it first, but be warned; the beauty and addictive race modes might pull you in for a purchase.

I did have to fiddle with patches, drivers, and tweaking the nVidia control panel. A lesser machine may also not give you visuals as good as out of the box 720p on the 360 or PS3.

Mirror's Edge is many things: invigorating, infuriating, fulfilling, and confusing. It isn't for everybody, and it stumbles often for a game that holds velocity in such high esteem. But even with all of its foibles and frustrations, it makes some impressive leaps; it just doesn't nail the landing.

Mirror's Edge is an impressive feat as a realistic first-person simulation of parkour across the towering roof-tops of a dystopian future. Unfortunately it's also fairly dull and frequently doesn't do enough to motivate the player to continue, this is not a game I was thinking about when I wasn't playing it.

John M gave it an8:
It's a great game, but it's extremely limited in many areas. Whatever graphics engine went into this title is superb. This is one of the games where I actually felt like I was living within the world, and few titles offer such immersion. Where the game suffers terribly, however, is the storyline and the cut-scenes. First off, the cut-scenes seem to have been animated entirely in flash. This is highly commendable, yet extremely misplaced in my opinion. From such a visually rich game, I'm left wondering why the developers decided upon a visually dull cut-scene format. The cardboard-like characters and stiff animation really sucked the energy out of the title, and it was almost heartbreaking to be ripped from the lush, glowing environments, and thrust into a two-dimensional cut-scene. As far as the storyline goes, I ended up beating the game without ever realizing it. In fact, when the credits started rolling, I was left sitting at my computer thinking, "What?" Ironically enough, as the final scene was coming to a close and the "Mirror's Edge" logo faded onto the screen, I actually got excited, thinking what I had played through was only a prelude, and that the real game was just beginning. Boy, was I dissappointed... There is absolutely no closure, nor hint of continuation, and I personally feel like I just wasted a good 4 hours of my life. That's right, it took me 4 hours to play through start to finish, watching all the cut-scenes in their entirety and restarting instances multiple times. It's just WAY too short, and the story is just WAY too lacking... I'm rating this an 8, simply because the real potential of this title lies in its graphical engine and Time Trial mode. It's worth the purchase simply to experience those two things alone. I still can't get over how real everything looks in-game. The advances in graphic technology over the past year blow my mind... Also, if you do not own an Nvidia graphics card, make sure to flip off the PhysX Support in the Options mode. I have dual ATI cards, and my game lagged like hell until I realized the PhysX was on by default. I'm not too sure why it defaulted to being on, but now that it's off my game runs great on the highest settings with AA cranked to x4. Must have simply been a proprietary conflict...

Jim C. gave it a10:
Fast, fresh, intense, action packed, impressive, made with lotsa love. Its not perfect, but I give it a 10 nonetheless because it gave me a real fresh gameplay. The idea, the design, the protagonists blend into something that has got a identity of its own. I can't help myself I just love faith and I DO wanna see part 2 and 3. Thanks DICE!

Ihmemies gave it a9:
One of the most stylished and flawlessly working games I've ever seen on PC. Pity so many people nitpick about irrelevant issues like you're shown where you must go (you can DISABLE the hints from game settings!) or how ugly/emo/uncool/whatever Faith is... They don't know what they are missing, and it's a pity we won't see more greatness like Mirror's Edge, since the sales have been a disaster because people really seem to want more Maddens and NHL upgrades instead of inventive new games like Mirror's Edge and Dead Space.

Em_J W gave it a9:
This game does have some issues with the default control mapping, and a bit of frame tearing / sync issues, and some weird unresponsive moments in combat occasionally but I'm willing to totally look past it. The reason is the really fast paced, exciting, smooth flowing, and stylish nature of this game. I find that the skyline and stylizing of the city with the use of intense hue color themes was really visually satisfying from the opening menu. I love how they took the time to animate every little action realistically from the first person perspective. This game is very stylized, and will probably either click completely with you, or you won't like it much at all. Some people took real issue with the combat, and I could see how it would happen. However, I was completely addicted to the action sequences, replaying many of them over, and over, despite near immediate success. If you ever gel with the various acrobatic and melee controls, you'll have an unbelievable blast, and truly unique and reward experience during the combat sequences. However I could see how many parts of this game would simply be irritating if you're uncomfortable with any portion of the control scheme. The cutscenes look like the 'E-surance' commercials. I could take or leave them. All that said, I really like this game, even if it was short. I enjoyed it a whole lot, and I think its creative, fun, challenging and ultimately very rewarding when it finally clicks.

Phil T. gave it a9:
A great innovative title. The immersion was fantastic, the graphics are interesting and different and the style is great, and the gameplay was, for the most part, great. A big part of my initial frustration with this game, though, was that learning curve was pretty steep. It took me about three or four hours of play to really grasp the movement and combat. However, once I learned I began to have so much fun. It is incredibly satisfying to run through an entire level without pausing or to take down four SWAT officers easily and swiftly. I do have a few minor quibbles in addition to the learning curve: one, I agree that the flash-style cutscenes were a mistake. It breaks the immersion and I think the graphics engine could have handled cutscenes easily. Two, I had multiple problems with the game not registering my grabs onto ledges or pipes...I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when Faith is right next to a pipe and leans over towards it, jumps, literally clips through the pipe but STILL manages to miss it, and falls to her death I became extremely frustrated. All in all I say this game was a success. There are frustrations to be sure but I wish more developers put out interesting, immersive titles such as this one. I want to reiterate what others have said and state that this game is definitely not for everyone, but if you are willing to spend a bit of time learning then I think you will be very, very happy. I am very glad I bought it and I really hope they put out more.

r08in gave it a9:
My First game of 2009 is Mirror's Edge. First i started playing the story mode. Its a very new kind of game play. After playing for some time i tried the time challenge mode. Man really telling it sucks you in. You can challenge your self and also other who are online. If you are best then your score is displayed in Leader Board. But one thing that there is no replays. Yes if Replays are there then the player can see how he completed the race, may be with different camera angles like third person view or bird's view. Rest of the thing the game is very good if players need to try some thing new. AMAZING.

Zachary H gave it a9:
A fantastic addition to EA's already amazing stock of stellar games. Mirror's Edge moves quickly, and as the blurb says, there is a real flow to the game. The free running main character Faith zips through the urban landscape in truly spectacular fashion. I have only one complaint: the time for a first complete play-through was between three and four hours. When I saw the end credits I thought to myself, "This is it?!" The game ended before I could even really snag the interface completely. But other than the length, I had zero issues. I felt so into the character, and every move felt like it should in real life, right down to the way Faith swung over railings. The first-person aspect of the game worried me when I saw it at first, but EA really did a good job on making the visuals feel like you were viewing them right through your own eyes. And unlike many other first-person games, you can look down and see yourself. The fantastic story really completes the experience, and lets you immerse yourself in the game. If only it hadn't ended so soon.
