Liz Hernandez

Biography

  1. Born and raised in Riverside, California, Liz Hernandez began her radio career while majoring in communications at the University of San Diego and interning for a local radio station. She did it all — answering phones, promotions, even celebrity reports — and she learned quickly.

After graduating from college, Hernandez briefly moved to Monterey to co-host a morning show. She moved back to Southern California in 2001 to join Los Angeles' biggest hip-hop station, Power 106. As part of "Big Boy's Neighborhood," Hernandez reports on entertainment news in her "This Just Handed to Me" segment, covering everything from awards shows and red carpets to one-on-ones with Hollywood's biggest stars.

Hernandez, who was recognized by the National Hispanic Media Coalition for excellence in radio broadcasting, can also be heard on the nationally syndicated radio show "Big Boy's Hip-Hop Spot" every Saturday from 5 to 10 a.m.

If you're wondering how a radio voice can look so familiar, perhaps it's because you saw Hernandez in Cypress Hill's video for "What's Your Number?" or one of her cameos on various TV shows such as HBO's "Entourage" or NBC's "She Spies." Hernandez is also the 2006 poster girl for the Los Angeles Kings hockey team.
