Eli Manning threw for 303 yards and two
touchdowns to lead the streaking New York Giants over the slumping Atlanta
Falcons, 31-10, at the Georgia Dome. Plaxico Burress had six catches for 97
yards with one TD for New York (4-2), which has won four straight after
starting the season 0-2. Brandon Jacobs added 86 yards rushing, and Reuben
Droughns ran for 90 yards and a score for the Giants, who pulled within a game
of the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys. Manning finished 27-of-39, recording
his second 300-yard game of the season, with two interceptions for Big Blue,
which hosts the 49ers next week before traveling to London to face the
Dolphins. Jerious Norwood ran for 87 yards, which included a 67-yard TD
run, for the Falcons (1-5), who have dropped two in a row since picking up
their lone win of the season. Joey Harrington started at quarterback and
finished 18-of-39 for 209 yards with no touchdowns and one interception,
as Atlanta continues to struggle under first-year head coach Bobby Petrino.
The Falcons are off to their worst start since beginning the 2003 season 1-7.
