Sample VA letter for the U.S. Senate

The Honorable XXXXXX
U.S. Senate
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator,

I am writing you regarding legislation (H.R. 3447) that has created a new chiropractic benefit in the VA health care system. This legislation was signed into law on January 23, 2002 (P.L. 107-135).

As you know, this important veterans legislation, for the first time, creates a permanent chiropractic benefit in the VA health care system, sets a broad scope of practice, authorizes the hiring of doctors of chiropractic in the VA, and establishes a chiropractic oversight committee that will participate in the development and implementation of the new benefit. As a practicing doctor of chiropractic in your state, I strongly urge you to write the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding the timing and availability of the new chiropractic benefit. Specifically, I am requesting that you inquire when and where this benefit will be available to veterans in your state.

Thank you for your support of this chiropractic legislation and your attention to this important matter. If you have any specific questions regarding this issue, please call the American Chiropractic Association at (703) 276-8800.

Sincerely,
