  1. How does AEIWI work?
    When you make a search for a word, AEIWI finds all pages with that keyword and calculates which other keywords are most frequent on those pages. Then AEIWI displays the 100 first of these keywords.

  2. Who made AEIWI?
    AEIWI was designed by Knud Soeresen, the owner of AL&L Technology, while studying at Aarhus University in Denmark.

  3. Why was AEIWI created?
    As webmaster for FreakTech I tried to register with Yahoo several times... in vain. Yahoo is a manually built web directory and they can't keep up with all the submissions they receive. Therefore, I started to wonder if it were possible to make an automatic web directory. This thought grew into experiments and the experiments grew into AEIWI. That also led to the name "An Experiment In Web Indexing" - AEIWI.

  4. How do you pronounce AEIWI ?
    My pronunciation of AEIWI is very similar to the word ivy, but with more Aey in the start and more wee in the end.

  5. How many links does AEIWI contain ?
    AEIWI is constantly growing, but right now AEIWI contains about 600000 links.

  6. How does I test if my webpage is in AEIWI ?
    Take some of the keywords from your meta keywords tag and put them into the search field. If you get more that one link just add some more! Then the result should contain your page. Notice that AEIWI online database don't contain the most rare keywords. So, don't use them in this search.

  7. How do I get a AEIWI search form for my page ?

  8. Which systems does AEIWI use ?
    AEIWI runs on Debian Linux and the Apache web server.

  9. Where should I put the keywords, there only room for URL and E-mail?
    This is all explained on the submit page.

  10. Can I add AEIWI to my multi-submit software ?
    Yes. But please follow these guidelines if possible.
    Test, if the page contains:
    • Page title.
    • Description Meta tag.
    • Keywords Meta tag.

    Test, if the email is OK.
    If this is not true don't submit the page!
    You should add an email address to contact in the agent field.
    In case the submit process changes.
