10. American Pie (1999)

Teenage male fantasies across the globe were fulfilled when exchange student Nadia got naked in American Pie. Four high schoolers are desperate to lose their virginity before they go to college in this gross-out US comedy. Jason Biggs sets up a webcam in his bedroom to capture Shannon Elizabeth getting changed, but things get a lot saucier than he bargained for.

9. Emmanuelle (1974)

1970s soft-core classic with Sylvia Kristel as a beautiful woman of 19, part innocent, part temptress. Bored with her new life with her husband in Thailand, she decides to experiment, and throws herself into a series of salacious affairs under the instruction of the elderly Mario. The sexy moments are almost too numerous to mention, but the two most often quoted as favourites are two that follow in quick succession: first Emmanuelle and a younger girl masturbate over a picture of Paul Newman, then Emmanuelle fantasises about a wild sexual encounter in a plane. Saucy stuff, which became so popular that there have been over 40 sequels, spin-offs and parodies made.

8. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? marked a huge technical breakthrough, being the first film that blended live action and cartoon animation seamlessly. The film's "real" characters, led by Bob Hoskins' cynical, hard-drinking P.I. Eddie Valliant, blend so seamlessly with their animated counterparts that it's easy to forget that there's any difference between the two. Perhaps that's why Jessica Rabbit, Roger's pneumatic wife, an animated bombshell oozing with dangerous sex appeal, managed to become an international sex symbol years before anyone had heard of Lara Croft. In her sexiest moment, she even toys with her status as animated creation when she explains, "I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."

7. Queer As Folk (1999)

Vince (Craig Kelly) and Stuart (Aiden Gillen) live a life of sex, drugs and clubbing. Stuart picks up 15-year-old schoolboy Nathan (Charlie Hunnam) and it becomes the ‘one night stand that never goes away’. Writer Russell T Davies wrote the series partly as a celebration of gay culture, partly as an antidote to the kind of issue laden gay relationships that bogged down every TV soap of the day. He said, "the most important thing in their life is going out and looking for a shag. Everything else in their lives is incidental". And shag they do, although none of the sex scenes caused as much of a Dail Mail fuss as the 'rimming' scene in the opening episode.

6. Nine ˝ Weeks (1986)

Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke pushed the limits of sexual content in mainstream cinema in this notorious 80s film about a divorced art gallery manager who becomes involved in a game of sexual control with a hot young commodities broker. American audiences saw a much less saucy version than everyone in Europe as the studio were concerned that the film get an R rating. The scene in which Rourke feeds a blindfolded Basinger in front of her fridge singlehandedly made food sexy.
