Barry Alan Pincus better known as Barry Manilow was born on June 17, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. Known for his silky vocals and amazing range hes still rocking the stage at 71! Attending the Julliard performing arts school after high school, but only getting into performing live by taking the initiative to write an original score when asked to only provide music, the music then went on to be used in Off Broadway musical, which went on to have an eight-year run at New York’s 13th Street Theater earning Barry money by working as a pianist, producer and arranger. All while getting into the commercial jignle writing niche of the music industry cranking out several jingles still used today! Including State Farm Insurance – “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there…”, and Band-Aid – “I am stuck on Band-Aid, ’cause Band-Aid’s stuck on me!”.

In 1971 Barry Manilow recorded four failing tracks, all flopping on the charts one however “Amy” went on to become retooled to become “Could It Be Magic”. While also beginning to accompany artists on the piano for auditions and performances. Bette Midler happened to catch one of his performances in 1971, and chose him to assist her with the production of her first two albums The Divine Miss M in 1972 and Bette Midler in 1973 plus serving as her musical director on her tour follower her smash albums.

Bell Records put out Manilow’s debut self titled album in 1973. After some labal takeovers and buyouts becoming Arsta Records and remaining signed after winning over its head Clive Davis after seeing Manilow Perform as the opening act at a Dionne Warwick concert in Central Park, New York, on 26 June 1974. Manilow began to gain some fame after the release of his second self titled album featuring his smash number-one hit, “Mandy”!

Manilow’s managed to rack up three American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, a Primetime Emmy Award for Individual Performance – Variety Or Music Program, a Special Tony Award, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, and a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance!
