Jun 6, 2017This is a deliciously tactile, malleable game. One of its levels is full of more ideas than most games on the App Store can cram into their entire run time. Plus it's beautiful. So very, very beautiful. I can't stress enough how good Monument Valley 2 is. It builds on what came before - in a very real way, it's a sequel about sequels. And its story about legacy cements ustwo's own position as one of the greatest developers working on mobile.

Jun 13, 2017If you want a puzzle game that will test you, this isn't for you. If you just want something that you can interact with in order to get rewarded with interesting themes and gorgeous artwork, Monument Valley 2 succeeds at that. But if Ustwo ever explores this world again, I think there's a gap between the gameplay and the art that could be crossed to make this the masterful experience these games have just barely fallen short of being in my eyes.

Jul 12, 2017Fantastic adventure, journey of knowledge, flawless puzzle game, a piece of art ... All names fit to the Monument Valley II, the sequel of the 2014 mobile hit. If you can, buy it and play it.

Jun 7, 2017Monument Valley 2 expands the gameplay mechanics of the first and adds a new layer of depth thanks to the inclusion of a second playable character that also has transcendence in the plot. Its only defect is its length.

Jun 13, 2017After playing Monument Valley 2, I have an idea of why the first game got propped up to be mobile gaming's standard-bearer. At the time of its release, it was a novel experience wrapped in a breathtakingly gorgeous package. It was easy to look at, easy to play, and therefore easy to recommend to anyone. Much like an actual monument, Monument Valley was (and still is) an important landmark in mobile gaming. Monument Valley 2 seems to iterate on the things that made Monument Valley so beloved, but in doing so it feels like a duplication of effort–like a monument to a monument. It's still pretty and easy to recommend, but feels far less special.

Jun 9, 2017Like that first game, Monument Valley 2 is over far too quickly, but it’s also beautifully clever and tells a subtle and heartwarming story about the evolving relationship between a parent and her child.
-
Jun 29, 2017Like its predecessor and its DLC, Monument Valley 2 is a short game (say, two hours?). Personally, I do not consider this a disadvantage; on the contrary, I like games that do not pull their punches. I do not need time fillers, thank you very much; I plan on only living once but making the most of that opportunity. Monument Valley 2 certainly deserves a spot in my short but rich life.
