In the aftermath of the attack on the village, Naruto and Sakura are shocked to discover that Danzo has been selected as the new Hokage. Then, the Kage from each village gather for a summit in the Land of Iron, and Naruto seeks a pardon for Sasuke from the Raikage.
But the cycle of hatred runs deep in the shinobi world, and while the Five Kage discuss how to deal with the Akatsuki, the mysterious one calling himself Madara steps forward to reveal truths that will turn Naruto's world upside down!

Compared to many other animes the cost per episode is very good value.
Story and animation are perfect.
Some great new characters, as you'd expect, plus more back story goodness. A little repetition of older scenes, but it seems to serve as a way to jog your memory, rather than being pointless filler.
Some very nice story lines are thin this series as well as some padding episodes but it was still good to see.
Precious few story episodes dealt out miserly like the diamonds they are, buried amidst the pile of coal that is filler.
Marvel at the brilliance of the Five Kage Summit episodes and some truly awesome fight scenes, then, just as your enjoyment peaks, prepare to have it all jerked cruelly away as Naruto sets sail on another pointless series of banal filler! Gasp as Naruto battles mediocrity and trite stereotypes on the high seas! Facepalm yourself with disgust as you gaze at your eight disc set and realize that most of the latter half is going to be worthless filler. If you preordered this like I did, thats almost £22 worth of uninspired crap that has nothing to do with the story.
Put it that way, and its a mite distressing.
Nevertheless, while the set loses a star for having too many fillers, the canon episodes are really great and I thoroughly enjoyed them. If you've gotten this far with the series, you're just going to keep on buying regardless, despite the proliferation of yawn-worthy filler. Its just a shame the ratio seems tipped in the favour of filler material...
