‘Batgirl’ is coming to the big screen… written and directed by Joss Whedon.
Thankfully, there’s already a tease of what’s to come, with Aquaman getting his own mini teaser. It’s cool, it’s impressive and it’s apparently the first of five teasers to come before the full trailer is revealed on Saturday.
It looks as though ‘The Batman’ is going through some changes. During an interview with CBS Pittsburgh (via Batman News) Joe Manganiello – the man behind the Deathstroke mask – cast doubt on whether or not he’s even in the movie at all. “Maybe,” he said, throwing his hands up in the air when asked about ‘The Batman’.
Lex Luthor is about to join the MCU. At least, ‘Smallville’ actor Michael Rosenbaum is on board. During an interview with The Adam Corolla Show, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ director James Gunn revealed that Michael Rosenbaum has snagged a role in the upcoming Marvel movie.
Appearing on Instagram, he revealed a candid look at one of his ‘Logan’ recording sessions… and it’s the funniest thing you’ll see all day. Clearly, Jackman is channelling a lot of rage in this hysterical (and slightly scary) new clip… But it’s absolutely amazing how easily he can turn it off at the very end of the video, when he calmly turns to the camera and simply says: “Hi”.
‘Deadpool 2’ could star David Harbour as Cable.
Zack Snyder has revealed a new clip from ‘Justice League’. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very small clip from what’s likely going to be an action-packed almost-debut for the character in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie.
It’s official – Nightwing is getting a solo film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the long-time Batman sidekick Dick Grayson will star in his very own DC superhero flick… with ‘Lego batman Movie’ director at the helm. “Warner Bros. is plotting a new DC superhero film based on the Batman-centric character Nightwing,” they revealed.

Could Hugh Jackman be convinced to stay as Wolverine?
According to Collider, it looks as though ‘Daredevil’ creator Drew Goddard has been working on the ‘Deadpool 2’ script… but the original writers are still in the driving seat. “Over the past few months, the original Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been hard at work trying to craft the sequel,” they explained. “From what I’ve been told, Reese and Wernick are still extremely involved in the script,” they added.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is ramping up its production line this year with three films instead of its usual two: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. It’s a signal of intent from Marvel and one of confidence in the hugely successful cinematic universe model which began with ‘Iron Man’ in 2008.
Credit: Warner Bros. David Thewlis will play an iconic ‘Wonder Woman’ villain. It’s no secret that 53-year-old British actor David Thewlis has joined ‘Wonder Woman’ – after all, he was officially announced to join the DC superhero flick back in November last year.
It looks as though ‘Logan’ is definitely going it alone. During an interview with We Got This Covered, director James Mangold revealed that an early draft included some awesome-sounding mutant cameos… but they didn’t make the cut. “There were times early on in the story where I played with the idea of Hugh coming along, and I don’t want to give away anything, but I played with there being an underground railroad where there were a couple of other mutants that he met on the journey,” he explained.
Perhaps the two most interesting Marvel Studios’ films on the horizon – more so than ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ or even ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ – are ‘Thor Ragnarok’ and ‘Black Panther’. There haven’t been any trailers for the two films, set for release in October and February 2018 respectively but new concept art has offered a fresh look at what to expect. The concept art appears in the extras of ‘Doctor Strange’s upcoming Blu-Ray release and give fans a look at The Hulk taking on Thor in gladiatorial combat and a look at Black Panther’s homeland of Wakanda.
Credit: Warner Bros. In the latest rumour to suggest discontent at Warner Bros when it comes to its DC superhero films, it is being suggested that Ben Affleck no longer wants to play Batman. The news comes shortly after Affleck departed ‘The Batman’s directors chair not long before shooting was set to begin. ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ director Matt Reeves has been touted as his replacement.
A new ‘X-Men’ movie is coming… and it’s shooting soon. Of course, this seemingly confirms rumours that a new ‘X-Men’ movie is coming. After all, we’ve heard nothing official about a new ‘X-Men’ film as yet… and this could be our first confirmation that a new ‘X-Men’ movie is actually happening.
‘The Batman’ may be heading back to the drawing board. After the high-profile exit of Ben Affleck as director of ‘The Batman’ it looks as though Warner Bros. is forced to rethink its strategy… and may be starting from scratch.
During an interview with Collider, Adi Shankar – who produced the first movie – gave a brief update on whether or not we’ll be getting a sequel. “If anyone is still wondering, there’s no update on a Dredd sequel,” he said. ‘Dredd’ was released in 2012 and brilliantly, saw Karl urban suit up as Mega-City One’s most famous law enforcer, Judge Dredd.
It looks as though ‘Logan’ hasn’t lost his touch.
‘X-Men: Supernova’ is the rumoured title for the next instalment in the ‘X-Men’ franchise. It apparently continues the story of some of ‘X-Men’s newest mutants – presumably including a now-bald Professor X alongside Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and the rest of the gang.
‘X-Men’ star James McAvoy has made a generous £50,000 donation towards life-saving treatment for 16-year-old cancer patient, Kelly Turner. The British actor dug deep after he met Kelly during a visit to a London hospital earlier this week. Kelly Turner was diagnosed in 2015 with a rare form of cancer – Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor.
It’s official – Thanos is sitting this one out. Marvel Studios has spent the best part of a decade introducing all the pieces of the Infinity Gauntlet… and after appearing in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, the big, bad Thanos was finally given more than just a cameo. During an interview with Collider, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ director, James Gunn revealed that Thanos won’t be in the upcoming sequel… and there’s a good reason for that.
Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ has officially started filming.
