Looks like it’s official: as reported earlier this week, Disney do indeed have a new ‘Tron’ in the works, and now we have our first indications of who may appear in the film. While there is no script at present, the report claims the film will rework an existing script for a planned ‘Tron: Legacy’ sequel which Disney pulled the plug on two years ago, and would cast Leto as a previously unseen character named Ares.
Jared Leto will make his feature film directorial debut with Paramount’s crime thriller 77.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, especially if you’re film director David Ayer. The director surprisingly issued a fan with a detailed response over on Twitter, as the helmer openly discussed ‘Suicide Squad’ and cleared up his feelings on making it. While he thanked fans and insisted he tried his best to make something different, the interesting part is when he says what he perhaps should have done with Jared Leto’s The Joker.
Long live the Clown Prince of Crime.

It looks as though Jared Leto has joined the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel.
Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any worse for ‘Suicide Squad’, Jared Leto has reportedly told a group of Thirty Seconds To Mars fans that he feels “tricked” by the film. Over the last few days Jared Leto has been at the second annual Camp Mars, a camp-themed mini-festival held in Malibu, California held for fans of the band, which he’s been posting about on Twitter and Instagram. The piece went on to add that not only was Leto “overwhelmed by all the hate regarding the look and choices” but that he believed Warner Bros would create a more artistic film.
There are probably a fair few people who’d have liked a refund after seeing ‘Suicide Squad’ this past weekend, but there’s one DC fan who was left so disappointed that he’s threatening legal action against the studio behind it. The particular source of this fan’s ire is the slight role of Jared Leto’s Joker in the film, despite being promoted heavily in the film’s widespread marketing campaign. Leto revealed over the film’s opening weekend (5-7 August) that “a lot” of his scenes were cut from the final product, telling the BBC that there was enough on the cutting room floor “for a Joker movie”.
Whether your favourite is Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, TV’s Cesar Romero or Jared Leto in ‘Suicide Squad’, the Joker continues to be a fascinating and terrifying supervillain, a dark and abusive psychopath bent on destroying Gotham City. - Was Batman Inspired By A Victorian Superhero?
With ‘Suicide Squad’ out this week and the mixed reception it’s received, Jared Leto has revealed that many of The Joker’s scenes were cut from the final film. Here, it lists 22 scenes that were edited out of the final theatrical cut of the movie, despite a number of moments that featured heavily in the trailers. For example, there appears to be a lot of scenes contextualising characters and their backstories, such as alleged interview scenes with Boomerang offering his sexist and racist opinions (often to Katana, the character he develops a soft spot for), but, like a supposed moment referring to Slipknot as a serial rapist, these moments were cut from a hard-hitting, gritty version of a comic book story into a (debatable) funner, friendlier film.
From 'My So-Called Life' to 'Suicide Squad'
"You can only hope in some small way to help his performance," says 'The Dark Knight' makeup artist John Caglione.
The cast of ‘Justice League’ turned out to support their fellow DC Universe cast mates last night at the ‘Suicide Squad’ UK premiere in London’s Leicester Square. ‘Suicide Squad’ arrives in cinemas this week with the difficult task of keeping Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe on track following the… let’s say difficult release of ‘Batman v Superman’ earlier this year.
Whenever a new actor applies white make-up, dyes their hair green and dons a purple jacket to take on the iconic role of Batman’s nemesis The Joker, it’s a special occasion. Over the years the part has taken on an almost mythical quality, thanks to three especially-towering performances. As Jared Leto prepares to take his first bow as the Clown Prince of Crime in ‘Suicide Squad’, we’ve decided to take a look at him and the four other major big-screen Jokers to date.
Although DC’s ‘Suicide Squad’ is just around the corner, it looks as though there are still a few surprises in store – especially when it comes to The Joker. Appearing on Instagram, ‘Suicide Squad’ star Jared Leto revealed some all-new images of himself as everyone’s favourite DC villain. Comic book fans will already be well-versed in Harley Quinn’s backstory – a psychiatrist who began life as Dr Harleen Quinzel, but was corrupted by The Joker’s influence during her residency at Arkham Asylum.
‘Suicide Squad’ may be just around the corner but it hasn’t stopped Jared Leto from wanting to be in future DC outings, with one particular solo movie in mind. According to his latest comments, which came during a chat with the Toronto Sun, the actor who plays the latest version of The Joker echoed his previous desire to appear in more DC ventures, specifically opposite Ben Affleck. As we’ve learned over the the past 12 months, Leto’s taken his role of the iconic Joker extremely seriously, with a number of reports emerging based on his hardcore and rather unique method acting.
DC’s ‘Suicide Squad’ may be under a week away, but it hasn’t stopped star Jai Courtney discussing the film’s surprise cameo. While speaking to Comicbook.com, Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang in the David Ayer movie, was eager to talk about how one particular character fits into the movie and that he wasn’t even aware of his appearance until he saw the finished film. Courtney is of course referring to The Flash who features in ‘Suicide Squad’ when Boomerang was originally apprehended and imprisoned prior to being released under Nick Flag’s (Joel Kinnaman) command.
Jared Leto has heaped praise on Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’, a role that he will try to emulate with his portrayal of the super-villain in ‘Suicide Squad’. Ledger tragically passed at the age of just 28 before his stupendous work as the villain in ‘The Dark Knight’ was even released. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Leto waxed lyrical about Ledger’s efforts in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 comic-book adaptation, insisting, “Heath did an impeccable, perfect performance as the Joker.
Update: Bleeding Cool report that the item in question is not related to the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie, so this may not be a spoiler after all. After the largely negative reaction to ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (not that this kept it from making almost $873 million at the global box office), hopes are high that ‘Suicide Squad’ will renew faith in the Warner Bros’ fledgling DC Extended Universe. Whilst the film is based primarily around an assembly of comparatively lesser-known DC villains, arguably its two largest selling points are the first live-action presentation of Harley Quinn in actress Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto filling the not-inconsiderable footprints of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson as The Joker.
Before DC comic book fans start rushing off to find old Superman issues, he’s not the same Adversary who went up against the Man of Steel in ‘Adventures of Superman #579’. “Oh, you will find out who The Adversary is,” promised producer Richard Suckle. “You will find out not only who the Adversary is but why they exist, who is part and parcel behind them,” he added.
It looks as though ‘Suicide Squad’ just got even weirder. The upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ movie is building up quite a reputation for being absolutely crazy… especially when it comes to Jared Leto’s on-set antics. According to Entertainment Weekly, the ‘Suicide Squad’ director set up group therapy sessions for his cast of DC antiheroes… then used their deepest secrets against them on set.
