Introduction
Today’s technological progress is due to the sophistication in materials. With the advancement of technology, there was a demand for better performing materials satisfying conflicting requirements like lightweight, strong, wear resistant, capable of withstanding shocks and be able to operate at abusive environments. No conventional materials alone are able to meet these demands. This has resulted in the development of advanced materials and composite form one class of such materials.
Composites are emerging as promising materials in many structural and tribological applications. This calls for thorough investigation of the tribosystem to understand the influence of various parameters on tribological behaviour of composites at the laboratory scale and modeling the wear behavior using statitistical, finite element and artificial neural network techniques.
This special issue is to improve the dissemination of advanced research in the area of tribological behavior of composite materials. Original research papers are solicited in any aspect of tribological behavior of composites with different modeling techniques.
Aims and scope 1. Sliding, abrasive, erosive wear behavior of composites 2. Effect of Nano/micro fillers/fibres on tribology of composites 3. Taguchi, regression and grey relational analysis in tribology of composites 4. Finite element analysis technique to study the wear behavior 5. Prediction of friction and wear by artificial neural network 6. Mathematical model construction for friction and wear theory
