In addition to city council, there are three other levels of government that make decisions affecting citizens of St. Catharines: Regional council, provincial government and the federal government.
St. Catharines is represented at Niagara Regional council by six councillors and the Mayor, who are elected every four years.
Two Members of Provincial Parliament are elected to represent St. Catharines at Queen's Park in Toronto. St. Catharines also has two Members of Parliament acting on citizens' behalf at the federal level in Ottawa.
At both the provincial and federal level, St. Catharines is divided into two ridings: St. Catharines and Welland.
