Product Description
NARUTO Shippuden Box Set 1 After two and a half years of training on the road with Jiraiya of the Sannin, Naruto is back in the Village Hidden in the Leaves, and he’s ready to show off his new skills. He and Sakura team up to take on their old master Kakashi, who’s pretty impressed with their progress. They’ll have plenty of opportunity to put it into action when news arrives from the Sand Village that Gaara, Naruto’s former rival and now Kazekage of the Sand, has been kidnapped. And the culprits are the very same group who are after Naruto—the Akatsuki!

One of the most eagerly anticipated anime releases in years, Naruto Shippuden (2007) is the follow-up to the international hit Naruto. Two and a half years have passed since the first series ended: the title character has been redesigned to appear taller and less round faced, as a teenager should. Although he learned a lot of new skills from Jiraiya and might have matured a little, Naruto remains the irrepressible, ramen-slurping knucklehead audiences know and love. He and medical ninja Sakura join their former teacher Kakashi-sensei as a team to combat the Akatsuki, a confederation of outlaw ninja once associated with Orochimaru. The first target of the Akatsuki is the Village Hidden in the Sand. Gaara, who fights with clouds of magical sand, takes on Deidara, who fashions weapons from enchanted paper and clay; Sand Village lieutenant Kankuro duels the scorpionlike Sasori using complex, jointed puppets. Naruto Shippuden boasts more elaborate CG effects than Naruto, enabling director Hayato Date to pump up the action. But these battles also reveal how completely Naruto transformed an icy assassin into an admirable leader: Gaara allows himself to be captured to protect the people of his village. While Naruto fidgets and fusses, Granny Chiyo reveals what the Akatsuki are seeking. Nine extremely powerful tailed demons exist in the ninja world: the single-tailed demon is sealed within Gaara's body, the Nine-Tailed Fox in Naruto's. Chiyo warns that these demons wield far more power than anyone can be allowed to control. Meanwhile, the Akatsuki begin drawing the demon's chakra from Gaara's body. Help is on the way: Team Kakashi, aided by Chiyo and Temari from the Sand Village, square off against Sosuke's murderous brother, Itachi, while Team Guy (Guy-sensei, Tenten, Neji, and the perpetually upbeat Rock Lee) tackle Kisame, who fights with enchanted cascades of water. Can they reach Gaara in time? Although Naruto Shippuden draws a lot of its audience from fans of Naruto, it's exciting and entertaining enough to win viewers who don't know the original series. (Rated T+ Older Teen, but suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, minor toilet humor) --Charles Solomon

Contains episodes 1 to 13.
There is a good variety of episodes included here. Strong fights (Deidara VS Gaara) are mixed with a good amount of humor (the first meeting of Sakura and Naruto, Kakashi getting his welcome gift from Naruto...).
It's a strong entry for one of the (if not THE) strongest animes out there today.
I've always been a fan of the english dub (maybe it's because english isn't my mothertongue and I always liked the sound of the language itself). And in my opinion they did a great job in this episodes aswell (as always). It's just to bad, that viz takes it's sweet time releasing this boxes. But quality needs time I guess...
Viz is hanging to it's sweet traditon, established in the Bleach and Death Note box sets: in a "Voice Actor Featurette" the voices of team Kakashi and Tsunade show their faces and talk about the show and the dubbing behind it. For fans of the great dubbing of viz this is a nice feature.
The box comes with three single DVD-cases with very nice drawn covers of different characters.
The Naruto-Minininja included in the special edition is funny looking and a joy for every die-hard fan (but probably only for those).
Overall: A must-have for Narutofans. Upcoming fans should watch the original Naruto series first, otherwise you won't get what's happening here.
Can't wait for the next box, keep it up viz!
Shippuden brings us back to the main story line of Naruto. Picking up with Naruto returning to Konohagakure (The village hidden within the leaves) approximately 2 years after he left to receive training from the Great Toad Sage Jiraiya; Shippuden does not disappoint. It quickly sets a darker tone, and displays much character depth. There is a new found sense of urgency as the Akatsuki is actively on the move. I don't wish to reveal any spoilers so I'll just say this box set is definitely worth the purchase. If you are a Naruto fan, this is the logical next step in the progression of the series, and therefore worth every cent. They even managed to include an interesting bonus feature that contains brief interviews with some of the English voice actors as well as the director.
Naruto is definitely my favorite cartoon, it will be a sad day when the series finally reaches a conclusion.
The box is styled in a new way, instead of folding out, it has slim disc cases. At first this annoyed me, but when I saw each disc has the original Japanese cover art I was very pleased (much better than the individual disc art). The options are all there, bilingual, subs and dubs. With much more interesting bonus features than any of the original series. It actually has a voice actor featurette, much to my surprise. In all, this is very satisfying, and I hope they release the next one soon, as I will buy it as well.
I suggest this to anyone who wants to see Naruto Shippuden, but doesn't want the Disney XD edited version.

This first set of thirteen episodes of the `Naruto Shippuden' anime are great fun to watch with some nice animation and a reasonably good English dub. The storyline is interesting and although it still takes some time for episodes to get anywhere it is by no means as bad as some of the early episodes from the original `Naruto' series. The battles are nicely done and while there are some things different from the original manga (such as the absence of the `Kakashi Chronicles') it is still a relatively decent adaptation. The series also has a series of omake sketches between each episode which are quite funny and are informative for people new to the series.
Overall this is a very good start to the series and I am very much looking forward to its continuation.
Naruto is back after having been away from Konohagakure for 2.5 years.
Everyone, including Naruto has gotten older, stronger and wiser (in Naruto's case thank god it is not too much wiser)
Immediately we are off to a good start when the Kazekage of Sunagakure is kidnapped by the Akatsuki.
New enemies (and some favorite old ones)The Akutsuki have some weird members. And ofcourse Itachi Uchiha is back!
All my favorite characters are back in the first episodes as well. Like Naruto, Rock Lee, Might Guy, Neji Hyuuga, Gaara and Shikamaru.
I loved unleashed. But after watching the first 26 episodes of Shippuden I think it will be even better.
A must see for Naruto fans. If you like fighting anime, it is also an excellent choice.
