I’m Not Jennifer

Hi, I’m Jenifer. Yes.  My mom named me Jenifer meaning that I have spent the rest of my life saying: “Jenifer. With one ‘n’.”  When I was 14 I started going by Jen hoping that would work, but alas,  that was often written down as Jenn. Really, though I didn’t pick it, I prefer Jenifer. Who needs the second ‘n’ anway?

I am 28 and have been blogging at Witty Title Pending for about 7 years now.  This started as a blog to keep my friends and family up-to-date while I was living in England and marrying my husband.  It has since morphed into a blog about my life in general. Since I am on the cusp of motherhood, I am fully anticipating this becoming a “mommy blog” and I am just fine with that.

I am a bit sweary and that has just gotten worse since I married a Brit, perhaps that will change once our twin girls arrive on the scene. I don’t pull any punches on how I choose to live my life and how I will be raising my children, but please don’t take that as judgment on how you are living your life or raising your children.

My college guidance counselor once described me as “a pistol” to my parents. Sounds about right.

Some things:

I am a would-be lawyer with too many degrees, but am currently spending almost all of my time cooking twin girls. I decided that law wasn’t for me when I 1) failed the Bar 2) saw what family life would be like as an attorney. Nope.

I have been diagnosed with moderate anxiety.  I blog about my day-to-day dealing with anxiety.  I am not a doctor.

My husband Rob is British.  I met him studying abroad.  He is the most patient man I know. Our wedding was featured on A Practical Wedding, the perks of marrying a foreigner.

IMG_5318When I was 14 I received a kitten from my parents.  I hoped and hoped that one day when I was an adult he could live with me in my grown up apartment.  That hope came true when I started law school.  Stormy is about as neurotic as I am but I love him to bits.  I try to keep posts about him to a minimum – I don’t want to be that girl.

photo 2June 1, 2011 I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy.  This is a fancy term for weight loss surgery.  I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember.  I have obesity on both sides of my family.  I figured I might as well nip it in the bud.  I have since lost 95 pounds.  More on that here.

I currently live with my parents and it truly is the best thing that could have ever happened to us. Five adults vs. two identical babies gives us a fighting chance… maybe. It takes a village??

I love love blogging and meeting people on the interwebs so stop by and say hello as often as you’d like. For more of me, mainly in the form of bump photos and pictures of cats, follow me on Instagram.
