Target lands Taylor Swift exclusive

Updated

Taylor Swift is partnering with Target Corp. to offer a special edition of her upcoming album, "Speak Now," that will feature exclusive content only available at Target stores.

The Target version will include three bonus songs, three remixed tracks and 30 minutes of video content.

"Speak Now" will be released Oct. 25. It is Swift's third album, following "Fearless" in 2008 and her self-titled debut in 2006. The four-time Grammy winner has career sales of 13 million albums and 25 million song downloads.

Minneapolis-based Target (NYSE: TGT) has 1,743 stores in 49 states.

Target has signed similar deals before with big-name music acts — it's a way of capturing more album sales in the face of increasing competition from online rivals like iTunes. Last year it landed a deal to be the exclusive "big-box" retailer for Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" album, and previously was the exclusive retailer for Prince's 3-disc set of new studio recordings.
