Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant says he has rejected more lucrative offers from South Korea, Australia and Malaysia, and is poised to sign for Singaporean side Tampines Rovers.

'You can expect some news either later today or tomorrow,' the Englishman, who turns 33 on Friday, told local daily newspaper Today on Wednesday.

Former England under-21 winger Pennant has been looking for a new club since leaving Wigan Athletic in June following their relegation to the third tier of English football.

SAMI MOKBEL: Guus Hiddink fears a further injury to one of his frontline strikers will wreck Chelsea’s top-four mission.

The Dutchman admits his side would be left short if either Diego Costa or Loic Remy - his only two fit centre-forwards - were to pick up injuries this month.

‘Yes, I don’t deny that I’m concerned about Costa or Remy picking up another injury,’ said Hiddink.

KIERAN GILL: Several Championship clubs are competing for the signature of highly-rated Roda JC winger Edwin Gyasi.

Germany's Stuttgart and Italy's Napoli have expressed an interest in Gyasi but the 24-year-old would prefer a move to England.

The possibility of a move to the Premier League has not been ruled out but the Dutchman is more likely to strike a deal with one of five interested Championship clubs in January.

MATT BARLOW: Joel Campbell is this year's Francis Coquelin, according to Arsene Wenger, who persuaded the Costa Rican striker not to quit last year and is preparing to offer him a new Arsenal contract.

Campbell was keen to move in the summer and sparked intrigue when he posted a photograph of his passport on Twitter in August, hours before the transfer window closed.

Big European clubs including Benfica, Rennes, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Real Socieded and Celta Vigo were all interested. Some of them remain interested but the Arsenal boss convinced him to stick around for a few more months and is set to offer a deal in a bid to keep him at the Emirates Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season.

SIMON JONES: Norwich and QPR want £8million-rated Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace.

According to reports, Gayle will be allowed to leave Selhurst Park provided it is on a permanent deal - with the Eagles confident of turning a profit on the player they signed from Peterborough for £6m in the summer of 2013.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals this term but has only appeared in seven Premier League games and has not played since the 1-1 draw with Everton on December 7.

MATT BARLOW: Everton are planning to offer £3million for Leeds United starlet Sam Byram in a bid to lure him away from Elland Road this month.

Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino wants at least £5m for Byram, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has rejected all attempts to tie him down on a new deal.

The 22-year-old will be free to move at the end of the season and Leeds would be entitled to compensation because of his age - but that would be taken out of their control and set by a tribunal if the clubs cannot agree.

SAMI MOKBEL: Arsenal are determined to keep David Ospina this month despite the goalkeeper’s growing frustration at his No 2 role.

Ospina has been sidelined by the arrival of Petr Cech and has confessed to those close to him that he cannot suffer another season on the bench.

The Colombian would happily leave the Emirates Stadium this month, but the Gunners are hugely reluctant to sanction a move despite interest from Everton and Besiktas.

Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend is exactly the type of player his clubs needs.

Watford, who currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, have yet to make a bid but would like to sign him on loan, while Tottenham would prefer to sell for £14million.

West Brom, Newcastle and Sunderland have expressed interest too but Townsend would be keen to stay in the London area if possible.
