Nemanja Vidic leaves Inter Milan by mutual consent with former Manchester United captain weighing up offers from MLS

  • Nemanja Vidic joined Inter Milan on a free transfer in July 2014
  • He made just 28 appearances for the club and none this season
  • Vidic has offers from MLS ahead of the start of their season in March

Nemanja Vidic's unhappy time at Inter Milan has come to an end with former Manchester United captain and the Serie A club agreeing to terminate his contract.

Vidic moved to Italy in the summer of 2014 - bringing to an end eight-and-a-half trophy-laden years at Old Trafford - but he has failed to make a single appearance this season.

The veteran centre back is thought to be mulling over offers to move to the US ahead of the start of the new MLS season in March.

Vidic made 28 appearances for Inter last season as they limped to an eighth-placed finish in Serie, with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini taking over midway through the season.

Inter have enjoyed a revival under Mancini this season, despite losing top spot to Napoli at the weekend after a 1-0 home defeat by Sassuolo, and Vidic has not been a part of the rebuilt side.

The Serbian has been dogged by injuries in Milan, as he was in the latter part of his United career, but he is not thought to be considering retirement.

The 34-year-old won five Premier League titles with United as well as three League Cups and the Champions League in 2008.

He retired from international football in 2011 after making 56 appearances for his country.
