Ronda Rousey's star shows no sign of fading despite suffering her first defeat in the UFC after it was announced she will host Saturday Night Live later this month.

Rousey, who was knocked out by Holly Holm last November, will appear alongside musical guest Selena Gomez on January 23.

Rousey was the first female fighter signed by the UFC and is seen as a pioneer in mixed martial arts by her fellow competitors.

She made six successful defences of her bantamweight title before her defeat by Holm in Melbourne.

Rousey has also forged a career in film, appearing in The Expendables 3, 'Furious 7 and the film spin-off of TV show Entourage.

She will be the first mixed martial artist to host the popular show and has made limited public appearances since losing her title.

The rematch with Holm has been pencilled in for UFC 200 in July but the new champion could defend her title before then with Meisha Tate among her possible opponents.
