Convicted fraudster Allen Stanford has spoken for the first time about the 'hell' of being locked up in a Florida jail for 110 years after being indicted for masterminding the second-largest Ponzi scheme in history. Stanford hit the headlines in England in 2008 when he signed a deal with the ECB to play a series of five Twenty20 matches in the Caribbean, worth a combined £10m, in an attempt to raise the profile of the game among young people in the area.

MK DONS 0-5 BURNLEY: Andre Gray netted his fifth goal in as many Sky Bet Championship appearances as a 5-0 victory at MK Dons ended Burnley's run of five away league games without a win in style. A new playing surface is being laid at Carlisle United after damage caused to the pitch by the wave of flooding in December. Storm Desmond left a large section of Brunton Park submerged underwater - 'We were sat there watching our own cars trapped underneath the puddles on national TV. It was the most surreal experience,' said club official Andy Hall at the time. The deluge across Cumbria forced Carlisle to play their subsequent home games at Preston and Blackburn's grounds, but great efforts have been made to restore the surface.

So we can rule out spite and presume old-fashioned honesty as the motivation for one of the most damning assessments of a team this season. After Leicester City's goalless draw with Manchester City on December 29, Ranieri was asked about his next match, against Bournemouth. 'Believe me, it's more difficult,' he said. 'They are in good condition, they press a lot and move the ball very well.' He probably didn't mean it as it sounded. Manchester City move the ball around nicely, too. But ferocious pressing? Good condition? Let's face it, if City had Leicester or Bournemouth's work ethic, the title race may already be as good as over.
