Formula One world champions Mercedes opt out of Pirelli's pre-season wet tyre test

Formula One world champions Mercedes will be absent from a pre-season wet tyre test organised by Pirelli in southern France this month and attended by the sport's three other engine manufacturers. The Italian tyre manufacturer said on Monday that only Ferrari, Renault-powered Red Bull and Honda's partners McLaren would take part in the two day test at Le Castellet on Jan 25-26. Run with last year's cars, the limited mileage test will be controlled by Pirelli and monitored closely by the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Red Bull trophies stolen in ram-raid found in lake, police reveal

Some of the trophies stolen from Formula One team Red Bull's factory have been found dumped in a lake, it has been revealed. More than 60 trophies were stolen after a gang of six men used a vehicle to ram the front entrance of the team's building in Milton Keynes at around 1.30am on December 6. Thames Valley Police said that around 20 of the prizes were recovered from Horseshoe Lake near Sandhurst Monday after being spotted by a member of the public.
