Everton's FA Cup third-round victory Dagenham & Redbridge was interrupted in bizarre fashion when a cat wandered onto the Goodison Park pitch. 

The Premier League outfit were leading 2-0 through goals from Arouna Kone and Kevin Mirallas when the uninvited guest made a surprise appearance. 

The black and white animal was pictured running around Everton's penalty box before goalkeeper Joel Robles ushered the cat off the pitch.

With the full-time whistle approaching, the shot-stopper was successful in helping the cat off the pitch before play resumed. 

Everton saw the funny side, posting on Twitter: 'The game is on hold due to a cat being on the pitch. Joel Robles asks it to politely move... and it does. Game on!'

Roberto Martinez's men ensured their name will be in the hat for the fourth round after overcoming their League Two opponents. 

Kone's first-half header and a late penalty from Mirallas was enough to ensure Everton avoided a cup upset against the Daggers.

Ivory Coast striker Kone jumped highest to head home the game's opener with 32 minutes played before Mirallas secured progress from the spot.
