Jurgen Klopp was introduced to the magic of the FA Cup in Exeter on Friday night - even conducting his pre-match and post-match interviews in a tea room at St James Park.

Liverpool travelled to the South West for the third round clash with an under-strength side, and the former Borussia Dortmund boss was questioned about his youth players and selection by the BBC's Dan Walker before the game.

And as the interview drew to a close, the camera panned to where Klopp was standing - next to a sink, tea cups and two female members of Exeter staff.

'Have you ever done a pre-match interview in a tea room before, Jurgen?' Walker asked.

'For sure, you cannot imagine where I played myself,' Klopp, who played for Pforzheim, Frankfurt and Mainz, replied. 'It's nice. It's everything that you need.

'I was looking out for my cup, but there's no cup with my name. I hope it's coffee inside here.'

Walker added that 'Sue and Tracey are in charge,' as the tea ladies waved to the camera.

Gary Lineker, sitting alongside Ian Wright and Alan Shearer in the studio for BBC One's coverage, then said: 'That's the magic of the FA Cup.'

And home boss Paul Tisdale trumped Klopp in the fashion stakes with a rakish pork pie hat and even gave the German a gift — a flat cap!

Christian Benteke captained the Reds against the League Two side, with the Belgian striker one of just two players who had made more than four appearances for the club.

Klopp survived his first taste of the FA Cup as his Liverpool youngsters fought back twice to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Liverpool had never previously lost to fourth-tier opposition in their history, but a side showing 11 changes from the Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday were within 18 minutes of exiting in the third round.

Tom Nichols and Lee Holmes had twice given Sky Bet League Two Exeter the lead, the second goal scored direct from a corner which goalkeeper Adam Bogdan somehow allowed to sail over his head and into the far corner of his net.

Jerome Sinclair had cancelled out Nichols' opener and then Brad Smith fired home to deny Exeter - 76 league places below Liverpool - a famous victory.
