Watch

At Children’s National, our leukemia and lymphoma specialists are national experts in treating these types of blood cancers. We care for a high volume of patients every year, translating to superior experience and expertise. In addition, we participate in and lead many clinical trials investigating innovative cancer therapies.

At Children’s National, our experts provide compassionate, personalized care for your child. Features of our program include:

  • High level of expertise. Our physicians are all board-certified in hematology/oncology, with additional subspecialty training in different types of blood cancers. Patients from across the region, country, and even the world come to us for our team’s unmatched expertise, resources and skills.
  • Access to leading clinical trials. Our hospital is an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the largest group in the world for cancer treatment. A large percentage of our patients are enrolled in clinical trials, many of which we also lead. We are among fewer than two dozen sites in the country participating in COG Phase I trials. This means your child has access to the latest medications and therapies. Learn more about clinical trials and experimental therapeutics.
  • Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic (LTFU). Thanks to innovative treatments and skilled specialists, patients with childhood cancers are living longer than ever, with a good quality of life. Our LTFU clinic works with patients well after treatments have ended. We follow children through young adulthood, helping them manage any complications from their treatments.
  • Full spectrum of care. We offer comprehensive treatment options for your child, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapies, and surgery. Learn more about oncology surgery.

Our team has a holistic approach to care. We know that cancer doesn't just affect the body. It can affect your child’s mental health as well. Our specialists work with your child to offer the most comprehensive, compassionate care available.

Our tumor board meets regularly to discuss complex cases. The tumor board – consisting of surgeons, a pathologist, radiologist, and oncologists – works together to deliver a treatment plan.

Our team members include:

  • Physicians
  • Nurse practitioners
