Another solid season volume of Naruto!

Hello there, it's me again. It looks like they are now upping the price of these volume sets (...greedy capitalists...grrr...), but I still say buying these sets is a better deal than buying the single volume dvds. Anyway, on to the review!

Like the other volumes, this one contains both English and Japanese versions with subtitles. As this is the uncut version there is more blood, violence and swearing than originally aired on television. This set covers episodes 79-100 (28 episodes). The first two episodes finish up the Naruto Vs. Gaara match from the last volume as well as the Orochimaru Vs. The Third Hokage fight.

The next arc features the return of Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke's brother and the one that Sasuke has sworn to kill for murdering their entire clan. Meanwhile, Naruto and Jiraiya head out to find Tsunade, who is to become the next Hokage of the village, which is the main goal of the next arc.

In the next arc, Naruto begins his training to use the Rasengan, and we're introduced to Tsunade and her backstory. Tsunade's another great character and her fights against Orochimaru and Kabuto are pretty awesome. Actually, the fights in this arc are all great.

After this arc, we spend a few episodes on Tsunade settling into the Leaf Village as the new Hokage and her healing Sasuke, Kakashi and working to help Lee. This volume also has the famous "Kakashi's Face" episode, which is a personal favorite of mine.

The last arc in this volume set is a filler arc. It has Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura going off to the Land of Tea to help escort a runner in a race that decides the leadership of a village. Even though this arc is filler and not originally in the manga, it still does provide some good development.Read more ›

Official Naruto for Cheap

Like the previous box set volumes, this one is Naruto for a cheaper price. This volume has 26 episodes (Episodes 53-78) in both English and Japanese (with subtitles). As this is the uncut version, there is mild swearing and more blood than originally shown when this show aired on television. And again, the special features/extras aren't anything to rave about.

This particular volume covers many different arcs because so many different things are happening at the same time.

The first arc is the introduction of Jiraiya and his training Naruto in summoning a toad. I will admit, as wonderful as Jiraiya's character is, this part is a little slow at first but it does pick up speed towards the end.

The next arc is the Third Part of the Chunin Exams: The Final Rounds. We have Naruto vs. Neji, and Shikamaru vs. Temari, two excellent matches. And then the beginning of the long waited Sasuke vs. Gaara match up...

...which carries over into the next arc where Orochimaru and the Sand and Sound Ninja attack the Leaf Village. This is where everything breaks off into many different stories. We have the Orochimaru fighting The Third Hokage , Sasuke chasing after Gaara, Kankuro and Temari, Naruto & co. chasing after them as well, and the beginning of the Naruto vs. Gaara fight. Strangely enough, this volume does not cover the entire arc. This volume ends with Orochimaru and the Third Hokage still struggling against each other, and Naruto still taking on Gaara and the Shukaku sand spirit. I found it strange that this arc was not compiled together in its entirety in this box set, but it is a long arc so I guess it couldn't be helped.

Again, this is a good buy for the person that is just looking to buy the episodes for cheap. I highly recommend this set if you don't already have the dvds.

Some important plot points appear in this set

The Naruto Uncut Season Two Volume 2 box set is a six DVD set that contains episodes seventy-nine through one hundred and six of the Naruto anime series. The first disc contains four episodes, the second disc contains five episodes, the third disc contains five episodes and bonus features, the fourth disc contains four episodes, the fifth disc contains five episodes, and the sixth disc contains five episodes and bonus features. The episodes in this set include the return of Sasuke's older brother, some training from Naruto with a new teacher, and the introduction of the future Fifth Hokage.

This is a "bare bones" release; there are no booklets or inserts included. When it comes to the actual discs in this set, they are the exact same discs from Naruto Uncut Box Set 7 and Naruto Uncut Box Set 8.

The first bonus feature on the third disc is labeled as "Production Art." This consists of ten pages of model sketches of some of the Naruto characters. The next feature is a preview for Naruto Uncut Box Set 8. This is followed by "From Sketch to Screen Episode 85," which is eight pages of storyboards. For each storyboard, you can choose to see the clip that the storyboard is for. In the extras, you can also see the English credits. A link in the extras menu labeled as "Trailers" takes you to four trailers. Next in the extras menu is a selection labeled as "Manga," which takes you to advertisements for Shonen Jump Magazine, and advertisements for the Naruto and other Shonen Jump manga titles. The final selection in the menu is labeled as "Sneak Peek"; it turns out that this selection takes you to a trailer promoting Viz Media's release of the Buso Renkin anime series.Read more ›
